Walking Montalbano August
Walking Montalbano guided walks, organized by the Municipality of Lamporecchio and the tourist office San Baronto-Lamporecchio, continue every Wednesday in August, except the Ferragosto week when the guided walk will be moved to Thursday afternoon. They are a unique chance for tourists and local people to discover the treasures in Lamporecchio and the Montalbano hill walking along the historic paths in our territory.
On Wednesday August 1st at 9.00 am, after a visit of the church and its evocative Romanic crypt our guide will lead you through the ridge path, to discover some of the most amazing views in the area telling you the history and the legends of our territory, from the Barco Reale Mediceo, the Medici hunting preserve, to the Sasso di Pietra, the huge stone shrouded in mystery and popular fascination. The walk is 10 km long.
On Wednesday August 8th the short walk follows an old path which leads to Giugnano and then stops at “Du Passi” farm where you will see the cheese-making transformation process and final tasting. Free shuttle return.
On Thursday August 16th special appointment with a walk at sunset. Starting at 16.45 from via del Madonnino we will follow the Montalbano ridge path and then we will head to Faltognano, residence of the centenarian holm oak, where we will enjoy the amazing sunset and have a picnic admiring Montalbano’s unique colours. The walk is about 10 km long and with free shuttle return. The participants who want to eat in the fields can bring with them sandwiches, drinks and the necessary things for a picnic.
On Wednesday August 22nd the walk will take place around Porciano, exploring a path which leads to Leporaia hill, Fornello, Saletto and Belvedere. The walk is about 7 km.
On Wednesday August 29th easy walk about 6 km long following a path which will go through the vineyards and corn fields in the Varignano area and hidden places in Lamporecchio.
All our guided visits are free and are in Italian and English with our qualified guide Michela Del Negro.
