Mastromarco and Cerbaia
Mastromarco, recently recalled “university of cycling” owes its popularity to this sport, which has seen some of its greatest champions growing up here, first of all Vincenzo Nibali, born in Sicily but “adopted” by this village. It was here that the Vuelta a Espana, Giro d’Italia and Tour de France winner has lived and trained for many years and it’s here that a real hotbed of talents who choose Mastromarco as a place of retreat has developed.
Just as Mastromarco, Cerbaia has experienced an important economic growth in the post-war period thanks to agri-food and footwear companies and today, both of them are the most densely populated suburbs in Lamporecchio.
